One of the reasons why I love espresso so much is because it’s small sized coffee with enough caffeine to shake up my mornings.
You can drink it hot, cold, with milk, flavored, your imagination is your limit.
But this particular espresso drink, no matter how old, is totally new to me.
Espresso Freddo is very old iced coffee drink invented in Greece in 1993. Shaken with ice, this coffee drink will give you the coolness and caffeine without having your coffee watering down. The secret: 2 or 3 espresso shots.
Now, that’s what I call strong iced coffee.

What You Need To Make Refreshing Espresso Freddo?
The best thing about Espresso Freddo is that all you need is good espresso coffee and fresh ice.
You will also need a cocktail shaker or an electric blender, sweetener of your choice in case you need one, and some more ice.
How To Make Espresso Freddo
- 2 shots of espresso
- 2 cups of ice
- Sweetener – optional
- Brew 2 espresso shots
- Pour the espresso over a cup of ice in a cocktail shaker or a bottle with a lid, or mix with an electric blender.
- Shake or mix until foam forms.
- Strain over a glass with fresh ice.
There you are, you just made your perfect Espresso Freddo to enjoy it alone or with family and friends!
Last Words From Me
It took me a while before I discovered this amazingly refreshing coffee drink, but in the last week I already drank it five times. Making coffee drinks at home is a perfect moment to try new things, be creative with your coffee, and adjust the drinks to your taste.
I love this coffee because it’s very cold, and still strong enough to not feel like watered down coffee.
